Burglary suspects draw mask disguises on their faces. With marker pens.
Say hello to Matthew Mcnelly (23) and Joey Miller (20) from Carroll in Iowa. The two friends decided to rob an apartment together. The cunning part of their plan involved a very ingenious disguise.
The burglars decided to use marker pens to draw fake beards and masks on their faces to avoid being recognised.
As you can see from the mugshots released by the police, completely unrecognisable:
Not even their mothers would have any idea who lay behind the magical ink mask and moustache combination:
Mcnelly was a little less artistic and ambitious with his disguise, but A+ for effort.
Police responding to a call about the attempted burglary pulled over the pairs’ car and thanks to some very clever detective work managed to see through the disguise.
Local police boss Jeff Cayler said:
“We’re very skilled investigators and the black faces gave them right away”
“”I’ve been chief here almost 25 years, been with the department 28½ years and I’ve seen a lot of things that make me laugh and weird things but this was probably the best combination of the two — strangely weird and hilariously funny all at the same time.” CNN
The two were charged with burglary, with McNelly additionally charged with being drunk while driving their 1994 Buick Roadmaster.
